CHIANG MAI, Thailand – A 23-year-old Thai-American man has been detained by police after a 26-year-old woman died following an alleged assault at a resort in Mae On district, with the suspect facing a charge of assault causing death. Police identified the man as K. Rescue workers found the woman, identified as Alosinee from Chang Phueak in Chiang Mai city district, with fatal injuries in room five of the resort in Moo 8, Huai Kaeo subdistrict. Police and investigators found bloodstains outside the room, near the foot of the bed, and across the bathroom floor, with a knuckle-duster-style weapon featuring approximately five-centimetre spikes found on the bathroom floor and taken as evidence.

The resort caretaker told police that the woman had checked in with the male guest at 4:45 p.m. on September 1 and had booked the room for three nights. At around 3 a.m. the following morning, the caretaker heard a loud argument and went to knock on the door, with the male guest, who was naked, opening the door before running outside and taking a motorcycle parked beside the road, colliding shortly afterwards with a parked car and pickup, damaging the vehicles and suffering injuries himself.

He reportedly told police that his girlfriend had tried to attack him first with brass knuckles, and that he then grabbed her head and struck it against the floor several times until she went limp.
